Dark (Deep) Autumn Make-up
Your skin loves shadow so definitely try out contouring. Bronzer captures your deep, volcanic glow quality beautifully. Keep blush well in the range of burnt russet, terracotta, sun-baked browns and spicy pinks and reds. Avoid glossy, shiny or wet looks.

Have you recently discovered that you are a Dark Autumn?
How to start your new make-up routine
1. Review your current make-up kit!
You don’t necessarily have to replace everything right away. Compare your existing products with the colors of the Dark Autumn makeup palette. If you scroll down, you will find the palettes by product type. What is quite similar can remain. One thing you should definitely get rid of is pastel pink lipstick.
2. Choosing the right shades
The most important thing is the right shade of foundation that matches your skin tone. It is worth spending more time on this and trying it out in person.
You have countless options when it comes to blushes and lipsticks. If you don’t have deep nude lipstick and bronzer in your current make-up kit, put it at the top of your shopping list. For eye makeup, get a brown eyeshadow palette and black/brown mascara.
In drugstores, you can usually find Autumn shades all year round.
It’s still worth the effort to find the best products because the change will be immediately noticeable. Dark Autumn is significantly aged by makeup that does not match the color type.
If you need more help, we recommend our bestselling beauty book with 100+ specific products, shade names, and more.
3. Trying new make-up looks
Since many people use makeup to express their personality, don’t feel limited. Your make-up can be natural or colorful, feel free to use your palette! What we don’t recommend is dewy looks and icy or pastel products. Instead, use a golden brown eyeshadow look, bronze eyeliner. Dark red lipsticks and spicy orange blushes look great, but you can also start contouring. What does not match are icy pinks, glossy coral pinks, but try not to focus on what is on the “no list”. You have beautiful colors in your makeup palette, use them!

Dark Autumn Foundations
Generally, Dark Autumn skin can be light to very deep shade. The skin tone is either neutral or neutral-warm. Skin undertones are neutral, golden/bronze or olive. The skin can appear pale in winter and may also have freckles. As a Dark Autumn, look for shades marked N, NW, W, O. In the long run, don’t overthink it – the final deciding factor is to try the foundation on your face and check the results in daylight to see how it looks.

Dark Autumn Blush
Look for a blush that best matches the colors of your natural glow and highlights your deep appearance. You can choose any color from your make-up palette, but it is best to coordinate the color of the blush with your lipstick.

Dark Autumn best blush shades:
- spicy pinks and roses
- coral and peach (natural, not bright)
- burnt reds and toasted terracottas
- bronze and chestnut brown
The colors of Dark Autumn are deeper and darker than the other two Autumn palettes. It may be surprising, but due to Winter-effect, deep berry blushes are also recommended. Be careful not to choose a too cool or overly saturated color, but rather one with a baked effect.

Dark Autumn Lipsticks
Toasted and cappuccino brown shades are your everyday colors. You can try deep rose and deep coral/salmon tones too. We recommend oxblood, deep rust, carnelian red from your bold color palette. Choose matt or satin finish. Your unique look is dry and bronzed.

Dark Autumn best lipstick shades:
- deep and spicy nudes
- burnt oranges
- toasted browns
- burgundy, oxblood, wine
- deep orange red
Keep in mind that the perfect shades vary from person to person, even within your color type. It depends on your hue, value, and chroma on an individual level. However, your color palette will help you narrow down your options and make your shopping experience easier!

Dark Autumn Make-up Looks
From nude, natural makeup to bold, party looks, you have countless options. You have to make sure that the overall effect remains bronzed and deep. Don’t use too cool or pastel shades.

Dark Autumn Mature Skin Make-up
The Dark Autumn color type is lucky because nude makeup look is timeless. You keep your depth, but the contrast can be reduced by greying or white hair. However, it is not recommended to change the color palette. It is possible that you felt the vibe of pop of colors more when you were younger (but your own deep colors will always look great on you!), many people prefer neutral colors as they get older. It’s totally up to you.

Dark Autumn Nail Colors
Your most beautiful nail polish shades are dark, elegant colors, deep red, gold, bronze, indigo and forest green and deep nude shades. Wine red and peacock blue are some of your best pop of colors!

Dark Autumn best nail polish shades:
- almond and deep nude
- bronze, gold
- saffron, ochre, terracotta
- wine, burgundy red
- olive/hunter green, peacock blue

Dark Autumn Hair Colors
When choosing color for your hair, there are many factors to consider. But the goal is to pick a shade that best accentuates your natural features. Your natural brown or black color suits your soft features wonderfully, framing your face beautifully. You can safely leave your natural brown or black hair, your appearance will be refined and sophisticated.

If you want to dye your hair, the key is to consider your natural depth. Light blonde will wash you out and is very ageing. So instead of platinum, choose dark honey or caramel blonde.

- cool, icy blonde

Frequently Asked Questions
I don’t like my beauty color palette, what should I do?
I am convinced that color type analysis benefits everyone. But by using its rules, makeup and dressing should be easier, bring joy, not restrict and stress. There are different personalities, we relate to colors and makeup differently. Someone is more rule-following, someone is more rebellious. If you feel like wearing a pastel eye make-up look with fuchsia lipstick, do it. However, it is worth knowing that this does not suit you best.
The color palette of Dark Autumn and the makeup colors are both deep and bronzed. If you are averse to these colors, there are still plenty of neutral/bright options. You can wear brown-black eye makeup and choose a brighter or lighter color from your lipstick palette.
Should I avoid black?
Among the Autumn types, it is not “forbidden” for you. You can wear it because of the Winter effect, but you can also choose dark brown, chocolate brown instead.
Can I use glossy products?
Shiny, shimmer finishes are very trendy right now. Autumn types tend to prefer matte, slightly satin finishes, but as long as the shade is right for you, you can use them. Make sure your foundation is as matte or natural as possible and only have a glossy lipstick or blush. Don’t let both be high-shine.
Can I wear red lipstick?
Absolutely! But when choosing a specific shade, keep in mind that bright, classic blue reds are not the best for Dark Autumn. Choose burgundy/wine red, or spicy orange red shades. But you can also experiment with mahogany and brown red shades.
What hair color should I choose?
If you don’t like your natural hair color and want to change it, be careful not to choose a color that is too light or too cool. From honey blonde/dark copper red to dark brown/black, a variety of colors can work well. The exact shade that will work best depends on your individual characteristics and your starting hair color.
