Differences between Summer Color Types
What makes the Light Summer type different from other Summers? If you look at the image below, you can see that the most important aspect of the Light Summer is lightness. Its colors are lighter, less cool and more vibrant than the Cool Summer. Compared to the Soft Summer, the defining factor is lightness, as the colors of the Light Summer are more saturated and less dominated by softness.

Light Summer vs Light Spring
Light Summer and Light Spring are both characterized by light coloring, but they differ in undertone and brightness.
- Light Summer is cool, soft, and delicate, looking best in muted pastel shades like powder blue, soft lavender, baby pink, and cool grey.
- Light Spring is warm, fresh, and bright, thriving in clear, light colors such as peach, coral, butter yellow, mint, and light turquoise green.
In summary: Both palettes are light, but Light Summer is cool and muted, while Light Spring is warm and bright, with more clarity and warmth.

Light Summer Make-up
The appearance of Light Summers is delicate and airy like a summer breeze. Your make-up should highlight your natural understated, yet playful, eternally youthful beauty.
Try a sophisticated style instead of strong makeup. You need minimal eye makeup and a light, soft lipstick. The creamy pink/rose blush is fabulous because you have a little spring warmth, so you can experiment with shades of rose gold, light coral or peach. For example, you can use a light pink lipstick, rosy blush, and a subtle eye makeup. Instead of black, look for shades of grey, taupe, medium charcoal grey, and soft navy blue.

Light Summer Inspirations:
Your whole look is like a fresh breeze on a warm day, your inspiration color palette is accordingly ethereal and sparkling.

Light Summer Color Palette
The Light Summer colors are cool, subtle, soft and elegant. There are no extremes here! Choose from cool grey and beige, soft blue and purple, pale pink and yellow. The Light Summer palette is lighter than the winter or fall colors, only spring can compete with it.
Although its palette has its typical coolness, the warmth of a Light Spring is also reflected in its colors. Moreover, spring adds some vibrancy and saturation to the otherwise soft summer palette.
The Light Summer palette includes medium-saturated, low-contrast, and cool colors – such as pale pink and soft blue-green.

Light Summer Neutral Colors
Your wonderful neutral colors are off-whites, light greys, taupe browns and faded navys. The closest colors to black are dark ash brown, cool brown, and slate grey.

Light Summer Best and Worst Colors
The best colors of Light Summer are light pinks, periwinkle purples and blues, and aqua greens.
Avoid dark colors, such as black and overly vibrant and saturated colors (neon yellow, scarlet red), and autumn colors such as mustard and orange red.

Light Summer Color Combinations
Aim for a soft and elegant effect, avoid strong contrast. The most beautiful are the monochrome and analogous color combinations.

Light Summer Wardrobe Palette
Light blue and grey are a good starting point for building your wardrobe because these colors are usually easy to find in stores. If possible, do not use too much brown or black. Look for bright, cool, slightly vibrant colors: periwinkle, ballet pink, light denim blue.

Light Summer Wardrobe
The goal is the elegant and effortless effect. Dress in color, choose low-contrast, delicate patterns! From the neutral color palette, you can safely wear both off-white and grey shades.

OFFICE WARDROBE
Build your office wardrobe in neutral colors: grey, off-white, navy blue. However, always add a bright or pastel color to your outfit! This way, the overall effect remains sophisticated and professional.
CASUAL WARDROBE
Your casual wardrobe depends on your personal style, it is difficult to give a general recommendation. You can’t go wrong with light blue, but navy can also be mixed wonderfully.
PARTY WARDROBE
Light neutral evening dresses work fabulously. Especially if the dress is made of some luxurious material. However, you can also wear more colors: pink, purple, green, blue. Team your dress with neutral or tonal accessories!

Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I only wear these colors?
Not at all! Wear what you love! You can choose from the colors of the sister palettes (Light Spring and Cool Summer). However, if you want to wear a dark colors like burgundy or maroon, you can do that too. It’s not your colors, but the most important thing is confidence!
Should I avoid black?
Any season can wear black, but it’s not the best for the Light Summer. Try to wear your own colors around your face. Team a black jacket with a light colored scarf. Wear black jeans with a pastel toned top and so on.
I hate these colors, maybe that’s not my color type?
Yes, it is absolutely possible! Many of us are naturally attracted to our own colors, but this is not true for everyone. You may want to think about what you don’t like about your color palette. Light neutral, pastel colors? Or do you reject a color family (pink, purple, blue)? Don’t wear them! Just because your palette includes these colors doesn’t mean you have to wear them all. Personalize your color palette and wear only the shades you love!
My current wardrobe is different. What to do?
Transform your wardrobe step by step! I know we’re different, but I suggest you don’t rush. Your current wardrobe also took a lot of time and money to build. Get the most out of it!
To start your new wardrobe, I recommend checking out the current Dream Wardrobe shopping guide, it will make shopping much, much easier and more enjoyable.
