Differences between Autumn Color Types

What makes the Dark Autumn type different from other Autumns? If you look at the image below, you can see that the most important aspect of the Dark Autumn is the depth. The colors are warm, but not to the same level as the colors of Warm Autumn. The color palette is darker. Compared to Soft Autumn, the colors are significantly darker and not as soft.

Dark Autumn vs Dark Winter

Dark Autumn and Dark Winter are both characterized by deep coloring, but they differ in undertone and clarity. The key distinction is warm, muted richness versus cool, clear depth.

• Dark Autumn is warm, rich, and muted, thriving in deep earthy colors such as espresso brown, olive green, forest green, rust, aubergine, teal, and dark mustard. The overall impression is deep, warm, grounded, and harmonious. Contrast is medium to high. Colors are dark, rich, and softly muted, with a golden, earthy quality.
• Dark Winter is cool, deep, and clear, looking best in intense shades such as black, charcoal, emerald, sapphire, burgundy, royal purple, and true white. The overall effect is deep, cool, dramatic, and striking. Contrast is high. Colors are dark, saturated, and crisp, with a cool, jewel-like quality.

In summary: Both palettes are deep, but Dark Autumn is warm and muted, with more earthy richness, while Dark Winter is cool and clear, with more contrast and intensity.
