Dark (Deep) Winter Make-up

Have you recently discovered that you are a Dark Winter?
How to start your new make-up routine
1. Review your current make-up kit!
You don’t necessarily have to replace everything right away. Compare your existing products with the colors of the Dark Winter makeup palette. If you scroll down, you will find the palettes by product type. What is quite similar can remain. One thing you should definitely get rid of is warm nude lipsticks.
2. Choosing the right shades
The most important thing is the right shade of foundation that matches your skin tone. It is worth spending more time on this and trying it out in person.
You have countless options when it comes to blushes and lipsticks. If you don’t have deep pink lipstick and blush in your current make-up kit, put it at the top of your shopping list. For eye makeup, get a cool neutral eyeshadow palette and black mascara.
You may not have noticed it yet, but Winter types have fewer products in drugstores. This is especially true for Dark Winter. But it’s still worth the effort to find the best products because the change will be immediately noticeable. Dark Winter is significantly aged by make-up that does not match the color type..
If you need more help, we recommend our bestselling beauty book with 100+ specific products, shade names, and more.
3. Trying new make-up looks
Since many people use makeup to express their personality, don’t feel limited. Your make-up can be natural or colorful, feel free to use your palette! What we don’t recommend is spring peachy and soft, earthy nude looks. Instead, use a cool smoky eyeshadow look, silver eyeliner. Burgundy and cool red lipsticks and cool rose blushes look great, but you can also start using pink highlighters. What does not match are warm corals and pale nudes, but try not to focus on what is on the “no list”. You have beautiful colors in your makeup palette, use them!

Dark Winter Foundations
Generally, Dark Winter skin can be fair to very deep shade. The skin tone is either neutral or neutral-cool. Skin undertones are naturally crisp rosy/or neutral tone. As a Dark Winter, look for shades marked N, NC, C, CR. In the long run, don’t overthink it – the final deciding factor is to try the foundation on your face and check the results in daylight to see how it looks.

Dark Winter Blush
Look for a blush that best matches the colors of your natural glow and highlights your cool and deep appearance. You can choose any color from your make-up palette, but it is best to coordinate the color of the blush with your lipstick.

Dark Winter best blush shades:
- deep pinks and roses
- plum and berry (cool, not warm)
- ruby red
- burgundy and wine
The colors of Dark Winter are deeper and a little warmer than the Cool Winter palettes. It may be surprising, but due to Autumn-effect, deep rose blushes are also recommended. Be careful not to choose a too warm or pale color, but rather one with a cool, deep effect.

Dark Winter Lipsticks
Dark rose and cool plum shades are your perfect everyday lip colors. You can also wear deep nude tones with cool undertones, as well as berry shades for a naturally polished look. We recommend crimson red, deep burgundy, or blackberry from your bold color palette. Choose matte or satin finishes for an elegant, refined effect.

Dark Autumn best lipstick shades:
- deep and cool nudes
- dark roses
- cool plums
- berry shades
- crimson and scarlet reds
Keep in mind that the perfect shades vary from person to person, even within your color type. It depends on your hue, value, and chroma on an individual level. However, your color palette will help you narrow down your options and make your shopping experience easier!

You keep your depth, but the contrast can be reduced by greying or white hair. However, it is not recommended to change the color palette. It’s totally up to you.

Dark Winter Hair Colors
When choosing color for your hair, there are many factors to consider. But the goal is to pick a shade that best accentuates your natural features. Your natural own luxe brown/black color suits your features wonderfully, framing your face beautifully. You can safely leave your natural brown or black hair, your appearance will be refined and sophisticated.

Very light blonde can wash you out and make you look older. Instead, try lighter shades with ombre or balayage. If you still want blonde shade, choose cool tones.

Frequently Asked Questions
I don’t like my beauty color palette, what should I do?
I am convinced that color type analysis benefits everyone. But by using its rules, makeup and dressing should be easier, bring joy, not restrict and stress. There are different personalities, we relate to colors and makeup differently. Someone is more rule-following, someone is more rebellious. If you feel like wearing a warm nude eye make-up look with nude lipstick, do it. However, it is worth knowing that this does not suit you best.
The color palette of Dark Winter and the makeup colors are both deep and cool. If you are averse to these colors, there are still plenty of neutral/bright options. You can wear cool brown eye makeup and choose a warmer or lighter color from your lipstick palette.
Can I only use black shade products?
Of course not! You can use any shade from your color palette, dark grey, deep chocolate brown, dark purple, etc. When applying eye make-up, make sure to shade the light colors with a darker contour!
Can I use glossy products?
Shiny, shimmer finishes are very trendy right now. Dark Winter types tend to prefer slightly satin finishes, but as long as the shade is right for you, you can use them. Make sure your foundation is as matte or natural as possible and only have a glossy lipstick or blush. Don’t let both be high-shine.
Can I wear red lipstick?
Absolutely! But when choosing a specific shade, keep in mind that warm, orange reds are not the best for Dark Winter. Choose dark burgundy/wine red, or classic blue red shades. But you can also experiment with berry red shades.
What hair color should I choose?
If you don’t like your natural hair color and want to change it, be careful not to choose a color that is too light or too warm. From medium brown to dark brown/black, a variety of colors can work well. The exact shade that will work best depends on your individual characteristics and your starting hair color.
